Hello....we are Matthew & Carla. We just celebrated our 31st wedding anniversary this year. We never imagined ourselves as dog owners. It was not until 2018, when we became empty-nesters and our daughter went off to college, that we seriously considered a dog. We had regularly taken care of our neighbors dogs when they would travel. We started thinking, maybe we are dog people. We found ourselves looking forward to taking care of our neighbor's dogs when needed. We actually started asking can the neighbor's dog come visit with us on a more regular basis. As we seriously started looking for our new family member, we had several requirements of a dog that would match our temperament, not shed due to allergies, and would in essence fill in for someone to love and care for while our daughter was now out of the home. After doing much research we fell in love with the Australian Labradoodle immediately. Our only regret was that we waited until we were empty-nesters to get "our girls." Scout has now been a family member for four years. Rose is our newest family member at two years. The quality of our lives has improved tremendously with the unconditional love, and care that "our girls" have for us and we have for them. In Scout and Rose, there is always endless love, joy, and laughter that is reciprocated on a daily basis. From a health benefits perspective, we are much happier and better able to deal with stress because of "our girls." Regular daily walks with them also ensures we get out and get some daily sunshine and fresh air.
Why Australian Labradoodles?
The Australian Labradoodle was originally bred in Australia to be a service dog for a blind woman with dog allergies. The ALD was bred to be a working companion. So low/no shedding, allergy friendly companion dog was the goal. Eurika!!! The modern family who desires to have a dog and not the hairy mess all over their house will fall in love with this beautiful breed of dog. From our new found love of the service oriented Australian Labradoodle, our dogs serve many needs. To keep us warm, sound the alarm, show us compassion, be playmates, battle buddies and traveling companions. That is a role worth sharing and we would love for you to be part of our Bluegrass Paws family.
